"Bring her here," Lacie said walking into the center of the arena

Tammy nodded and led Locket to the middle of the arena where Lacie was standing. She smiled and gave Locket a pat on the neck, waiting for her next instruction.

"Okay," Lacie smiled. She pulled down both stirrups "Do you need a leg up?"

Tammy waited while Lacie pulled down the stirrups and then smiled. "No, I think I'll be alright," she said with a smile. Locket didn't seem too big to Tammy. "Do you want me to mount up now?" she asked, resting a hand on Locket's mane.

"Yes please," Lacie smiled holding the right stippup to stop the saddle slipping when Tammy mounted up

Tammy smiled and nodded. She gathered her reins in her left hand, along with a tiny bit of Locket's mane. She placed her left foot in the stirrup and grabbed onto the saddle with her right hand. Bouncing three times with her right foot, Tammy swung herself up and into the saddle. She settled her weight evenly and took her reins in both hands. "Thanks for holding the stirrup down." she smiled to Lacie. It felt good being back on a horse again!

Tammy wiggled her feet and stood in her stirrups, testing their length. "Yep, they're good," she said, smiling. She jiggled her feet until only the balls of her feet were resting on the stirrup iron, then smiled at Lacie.

Tammy nodded. "Uh, okay," she said, gently squeezing Locket's sides with her legs. The mare walked forwards, and Tammy guided her to the edge of the ring. She walked all the way around the ring, then changed the rein across the diagonal of the arena. The mare turned off her leg well and Tammy smiled. She crossed over the arena half way across, then did what she estimated was a twenty metre circle. She loved the bouncy walk that Locket had, it reminded her so much of the pony she used to ride back home.

Tammy smiled and stroked Locket on the neck, then walked her back into the middle with Lacie. "Um, that's about all the turns and circles and stuff that I know...apart from bending and stuff," she said, not sure what else to do.

Tammy nodded, and gently closed her legs around the mare to push her into a trot. Locket tossed her head and picked up her pace, and Tammy guided her out to the track again, trotting around the arena. Tammy tried to rise with the mare's stride, but she found Locket's pace a little fast for her to keep up. Still, Tammy tried her hardest as they trotted around the arena, and then she turned the mare inwards when they reached H. As they cut through the middle and changed directions at the other side of the arena, Tammy tried to remember how to change her diagonal. She smiled when she remembered to sit for two paces, but then completely lost it again as Locket's bumpy stride stopped Tammy from rising properly. She grinned sheepishly and sat to the mare's trot instead, looking into the middle to Lacie to see what her next instructions would be.
